In God We Trust by Jean Shepherd (1991, Paperback, Reissue)

Being a avid fan and owner of the movie "A CHRISTMAS STORY", I decided to investigate where the original concept came from. To my surprise the narrator of the movie (Jean Shepard) was the original author of the book "IN GOOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS PAY CASH". This book was the basis of that movie and provides a somewhat historical account of what life was like during a simpler time. I not only need you to understand that I highly recommend, anyone that enjoys the movie should seek out this book, sink their teeth into it and further enjoy the humor of this most excellent american author. After finishing it, all I ask is for you to bow your head in his passing and promise to yourself that you will return home after many years and seek out your memories that formed who you are today,m before they have the opportunity to be gone forever..., and DON'T SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT KID!!!

What a good book. It's just like the movie "A Christmas Story", only with a ton of extras! I would recommend it to any of the movie's fans.

Im a big fan of the movie "A Chistmas Story" and wanted the story behind the movie. Since i already have the lamp in my front window, I thought this would be a great addition to my memorabilia collection. The book did not disappoint. Jean Shepherd is a fantastic story teller!
