I read this book as a young teenager and absolutely loved it. Being the nice, naive kid that I was, it helped me to see the negative effects of drug use without ever trying them myself. As a parent, I encouraged two of my teenage children to read the book and they also loved it. It is well written, but unfortunately, has a sad ending.

I brought the book for my students for literature study. The students loved the book. Great book to use to show kids the effects of drugs and how easy it is to get hooked.

I have read this book prior to purchasing this one and I really liked it so I wanted to have a copy for myself. It has been several years since I read it so I plan on reading it again once I get the chance.

Well, the book was in great condition, nothing at all wrong with it. But i was informed that i was buying a book about LSD trips and that is totally opposite of what it was. This book is a diary of a girl who gets involved with drugs at an early age, LSD being one of her drugs of choice. The actual author of this diary is unknown because she overdosed on barbituates and her notebook was found with her at the scene. That has nothing to do with what i thought i was buying and i even asked the seller if it was and he was just telling me what i wanted to hear so i'd buy it, and in fact i did, But it's all good, cuz i liked the book anyway.

I found this book depressing. It was required summer reading. Although i can see the merit in making kids aware of what drugs can do, i am tired of the in your face stories of drugs and sex in such young children. I don't believe most teens are doing drugs and having sex, at least i hope not!!!

  Great Book

Well I heard of this book from classmates when I was a freshman in high school(2000) then read it a year later at the library. I liked how it opened a door to someones life of my same age then, since it is a diary of a teenager. So I was able to learn things from the main character. I decided to buy it so I can share it with my friends and family.

Good books for teens in high school to read!
Review created: 02/17/09

My high school students really enjoy this book. I read it and for the most part felt that it was accurate. It is about addictions and the author did a good job of making her audience believe that it is a true account of a teenager with a drug addiction. The ending was very abrupt as if she just got tired of writing and .... I don't want to give it away. A must read for high schoolers. Hopefully it will make them more aware of what drugs do and how easily a person may get addicted.

Drugs, Sex, and Violence... true elements of youth!
Review created: 10/05/08

This is an explicit book based on the actual diary of a fifteen-year old drug user who's life spun out of control. It is a document of horrifying reality that all teenagers and parents of teenagers should really read. Truly amazing and recommend for anyone to read!

  Book for H.S. library
Review created: 10/03/08

This was purchased and donated to the local HS library where I work b/c we cannot keep this book on the shelves. The students also will not bring it back b/c they love it so. I was watching other ebay things and thought I'd check out this and other books. Price was right for me since I am retired and this is a very low paying job. I knew the kids loved this book and since I have brought it into the library I haven't even had time to get the book accessioned into the library files b/c when the kids saw it, they are reserving it and reading it and at this point returning it so others can read it. This is great b/c I love kids to read. It is a thing that can go through with them in their lives and they can imagine or go anywhere they want. Thanks for having the price that was right. And the book was in excellent condition but if I don't get it covered soon, it won't be b/c of the kids. You did me and our school a real service. Again thanks and God bless.

  Go Ask Alice
Review created: 02/23/08

I teach junior high students who have been expelled for various reasons. Most of them have never read a book completely through. I was looking for a book that they could read quickly, understand and learn from.

The book's language is "dated" so I feel that my students would not identify with it. Additionally, the character in the book, in my opinion, glamorizes drug use. If the students do not read the book completely through, they may come away with a skewed vision of what drugs did to the main character.

It was a fast read and easily divided into reading sections. I am going to assign it to my students and see what their opinions are.

  Great Teenage read!

My daughter loved it! An oldie but a goodie! I remember reading it myself in high school, 30 years ago! But it still has relevance today. Our kids are not any different then what we were. They will enjoy the story of Alice and her problems. They will identify in some ways.
