Glorious Stew by Dorothy Ivens (1976, Book, Illustrated)

My Mother has had this in her collection since the first publication in the 1960s. The recipes are nothing short of inspired, and the style of writing is delightful. The degree of casual sophistication in the flavors and the food and wine pairings was groundbreaking. I keep at least two copies on hand and purchase them for gifts on a regular basis. The dishes are straightforward and easy to prepare. I especially like the simplicity of the ingredients. So many current cookbooks rely on exotic ingredients and pre-prepared items.

Glorious Stew is out of print but often pops up on eBay. It's well worth looking for. I hope you enjoy many fine meals from its pages.
