John Cassevetes, the King of independent film making, made an excellent choice
casting his wife as Gloria. She portrays one of the toughest yet poignant
women ever in film going up against the mob to save a young child. The movie
is fast paced, exciting and also satisfying. Sharon Stone portrayed Gloria in
the film remake several years ago. Save your time and money. The original
Gloria featuring Gena Rowlands is the only one to see. As a side note to any
Gena Rowlands fans, check out Woman Under the Influence. Rowlands won a Golden
Globe award for her performance opposite Peter Falk. This film was an acting
clinic.

I saw the movie when it first came out and loved then and still do now. That and it was filmed in & around our old neighborhood.. Sentimental New Yorker, what can I say. Used to have it on VHS, so I was happy to find it on DVD. I wish it had more special features.That would have been nice, but hey, a great movie is a great movie.

Really awesome movie. I bought it for my husband but I think I enjoyed it more than he did!! Very entertaining, Gena Rowlands is funny.

An excellent old school movie. Tough woman, 7 year old child targeted for death, needing protection from the toughest gang out there, THE MOB. The battle is on! A must see! 5 STARS!

i dont like that it said free shipping which made me want to purchase it.now they want shipping. i just might as well go to the store or order it n pick it up for less than u offer. i feel its misleading.i know u have to spend a minimal amount but u should be told the things that say buy now from the ebay store r not from the same place. not after i commit to buy.i dont want this dvd.i made a mistake im new to this,and im disabled.could u please remove my name in good jesture. im sure ill be buying more things as i dont liketo go out.id rather find them here.the shipping is like gas money it would take to drivwe to the store an pick it up./thanku kenneth burnett

this is one movie that is full of unlikeable characters and writing that is hard and shows the dark and dirty side of New York. But because of the strong performance given by Gena Rowlands I liked the film. She give a strong performance as an unyeilding gun moll and therefore the hard writing an edge like rarely seen on the big screen.

Gena Rowlands has it 'going on' as Gloria, a tough-as-nails chick who shows that she has a heart of gold when she has to protect a little kid whose parents have been murdered by the mob who now want to do the same to him. These are some good-fellas that Gloria knew from her hard-knock days but she goes to the matt to protect the kid, even though he doesn't make it easy for her. She has to fight the mob guys who are chasing her while dealing with a kid who goes from yelling 'I'm the man,' to trying to put some 'moves' on her, to missing his murdered family. This young actor, who was probably 7-8 years old at the time, is terrific too. A re-make was made a few years ago with Sharon Stone as Gloria. Although Gena Rowlands owns the part, I was surprised that Sharon was actually pretty good. Sisters and the men who love them, why not get both versions, pop some popcorn, kick back and have a "Gloria" film fest.
