Global a-Go-Go [Digipak] by Joe Strummer (CD, Oct-2004, Hellcat Records)

I bought this CD because it has "Johnny Appleseed" which is the theme song from John from Cincinatti. Since HBO canceled the show, I've been going through withdrawal and have needed to have some things around to keep the experience going, if that makes any sense. This has been difficult, as little merchandise is available with a connection to the show, although I have found a bunch of graphic t-shirts with a John from Cincinatti theme on Cafe Press dot com.

While I bought Global a Go Go for that one song, I was happy to find that while the rest of the music is quite different than that particular song, it is all excellent and listenable. I expected to simply listen to that one track periodically and not much else. However, the disc has an eclectic world music sensibility, both in its strong rhythms and instrumentation. All the songs are accessible. Nevertheless, because of my longing for anything John from Cincinatti, I usually play track one, Johnny Appleseed, again after I've listened to the whole disc.
