For anybody that grew up in the 1980's knew that we were different then other kids during a genre. Skateboarding was one of the new past times for the youth throughout the country and we finally got a movie to follow. Gleaming the cube was it. A movie that gave our past time a name, yeah there were the underground skating movies but not a hollywood one. This showed all different styles stunted by the greats. Vert, freestyle and street. Wow I had that board, I did those tricks and i even sported that Suicidal Tendencies painter hat. I am so glad that this movie has finally found its way into my library. Thanks to Ebay.

Christian Slater Skater & Tony High-Flyin Hawk

I saw this flick when I was a skateboard kid way-back in the day. Before I even saw the movie, I used to tag onto to bumper of my aupair's car while she drove around slowly in the neighborhood in NJ. That was fun even though I got a few bumps a bruises (damn pebbles).

I also really liked it cause I could relate to the characters with my skateboard buddies when I was a child. Overall, the stunts were superb and it's a decent plot.

If you like skating and a little action here and there then this is the movies for you. Slater portrays a young skateboarder who lost his adopted brother to a murder. The skating aspect takes you back to the "old school" days where boards only had one tail and all skaters will know what i mean by this. This movie showed THE creators of almost every modern day trick known to the new generation. Rodney Mullen plays the actual skater for Slater alot of the time and he gives the really meaning to "gleaming the cube". Rodney Mullen is known for most of his freestyle skating in the 80's and for those of you who have seen "Thrasher"(another skating movie for Mullen) know what i mean when i say this is the best skating that can be found. So, looking for some awesome skating and some good action then check this out!
