"Gladiator" starring Russel Crow has always been one of my favorite movies. It is a story of a well loved general who loses all he has and becomes a slave. He eventually fights his way back to prominence as a gladiator. Through his hardship he never loses his values or his love for his family who have been murdered. He holds onto the words that a dieing king said to him and beleives in the power of the people of Rome. The movie is well directed and draws out emotion from its viewers as well as displaying great detail in the movie's battles. I would reccomend this movie to anyone who enjoys good battle scenes as well as anyone who enjoys storys of losing almost all hope but still able to battle back regardless of the obstacles that stand before you.

Russel Crowe and Joaqin Phoenix are great in this tale of friendship, deception, love and loss - all with the history thrown in. A classic.

This is an awesome movie, I absolutely love it. Even if you have never seen it, purchasing it is not a waste of money! A+++

Excellent movie, Definitely a keeper. One of my favorites. Russel Crowe is awesome in this movie. I would recomend this movie for anyones collection.

I remember watching this movie in the theaters, when it first came out, and while I served in the Marine Corps, I rediscovered how much I enjoyed it. The theme speaks to me because through impossible odds, Maximus did something to change his fate: he could have laid down and accepted the slavery in the Games, but he helped himself & others rise up, face the danger and he won his freedom. Those values are very Marine Corps-like, and a good lesson for all of us facing whatever obstacle we face in life.

Great movie, classic. I've always like Russell Crowe as an actor. The cast, the story line. Quick to the point, not too slow, not too fast. It is action packed and heartfelt.

One of the best movies made in recent times that pertains to the age of gladiators. The acting is superb to say the least. The film is a little longer than the average, but well worth it. The attention to detail and the soundtrack are also amazing. One of my all-time favorites for sure.

The movie is a great academy award winner. I wanted a more permsnsnt DVD copy of it instead of just a tape.

because i wanted it as a present. it's perfect. i love it because i do. it has no scratches. it got to me fast. i was happy to have it. i got it to the recipient on their actual birthday. that makes me happy. it would make you happy too. it's a movie, people like it, that's pretty much what there is to like, love or dislike about it. it isn't that deep. but again, i was VERY hapy with purchase.
