The Girls Guide to Elvis - review by Jeff Schrembs
Review created: 05/14/09

The Girl's Guide to Elvis, by Kim Adelman, is a nice "piece" of the Elvis...puzzle.If you are looking for a serious, lengthy, novel concerning Elvis then this book is not for you. However, if you are looking for a fun - factually correct - various topic - entertaining "read" concerning Elvis then this book IS for you.
Even though this book is (page-wise) a "light read" it is (a) factually correct (b) written with a certain methodology and (c) worthy of reading/owing for any Elvis Presley Fan.
Also,it puts the life/career/legacy of Elvis into perspective from a "girls perspective" (at least one girls perspective being the Author). It is funny, interesting, and touches upon important facts/events in the life of Elvis Presley.
I enjoyed reading this book PURELY from the "fun perspective" knowing that this books title reveals the contents of the book never leaving you to wonder the Author's...intent.
I think of this book in the same sense as having a "collage" of several magazine articles, throughout the years, binded into one "book". Each chapter is interesting and yet you are left always asking "what else" and/or "are there any other sources"? Nonetheless I applaud Kim Adelman for her diligence in referencing/crediting her sources by having a clearly defined index which "cross references" each chapter/paragraph of the book.
Elvis Presley will forever be an enigma, even to those who "knew" him best, so it is nice to put together books like "The Girls' Guide to Elvis" with other Elvis books (see all Elvis book reviews by Jeff Schrembs for details)in order to "complete" the picture (as much as one can without having witnessed events firsthand) of the Greatest Entertainer who ever lived...Elvis Aron Presley.
I encourage existing Elvis Fans Worldwide to buy, read, etc. this book as you will learn something "new" about Elvis, which is an accomplishment in itself, and have fun along the way.
Take care and God bless.
