Coming two years after UNDER THE SKIN, Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham's GIFT OF SCREWS represents the shortest gap ever between his solo releases. Where UNDER THE SKIN was a sparse, often meditative, acoustic-based album, GIFT OF SCREWS boasts a full-sounding production and an embrace of the rich pop-rock sound that made Buckingham famous, but it's still largely performed by the multi-talented artist himself. There are a few guest contributions from the Mac rhythm section and others, but this is mostly Buckingham's show. While some of the tunes bear an unmistakable Fleetwood Mac touch, that just underlines how important Buckingham's contribution to the group's sound has always been; this sunny mix of pop and folk-rock, driven by the guitarist's unique instrumental touch, sounds very much of a piece with the rest of his solo catalog.

Fleetwood's drumming also powers 'The Right Place To FAde,' a classic Mac-style hook barrage with a strummy 'Go Your Own Way' gallop and a head-kicking harmony chorus.
