Industry Reviews Gr 3-6 In this audio book abridgment, author R.L. Stine introduces the story. When the local bullies throw their backpacks into Fear Lake, Hannah and Jesse find a strange bottle floating in the water near where they retrieve their soaking backpacks. The bottle's label says "Danger. Do not open." Jesse opens the bottle and unleashes a genie who's been trapped there for 100 years and is none to happy about it. Hannah and Jesse want to use their three wishes to get back at the neighborhood bullies, but none of their wishes turn out quite the way they planned. When they've used their three wishes, the genie turns his evil powers on them. The story is sure to be enjoyed by the Goosebumps crowd. Heather Matarazzo, who starred as Dawn Weiner in Welcome to the Doll's House, reads the part of Hannah, the main narrator. The production also features Tony Roberts as the Genie, Craig Lawlor as Jesse, Heath Patellis as Mike, and Brett Tabisel as Roy. All the actors do a commendable job in their roles. Original music and sound effects heighten the mood. Appropriate for public libraries catering to the legions of Stine's fans.-Stephanie Gall Miller, Boulder City Library, NV Lopate
