Intriguing, Disturbing, Eye-Opening

The topic of the Middle East and the US policies towards it have for some reason captivated me for some time. There are moments when I wish it did not. Reading through the experiences of the prisoners (guilt or innocence notwithstanding) is heartbreaking. The bystanders that were caught up in the rendition programs are quite captivating in their tales.
I think that what was most compelling in this book is the flight logs. The verified and documented instances of rendition and the number of locations worldwide that participated in some fashion was quite surprising. I think most people watched the news, read the papers and heard speeches or testimony on it and imagined it to be on a scale far different than what this publication brings forth.
