Publisher's Note From the illustrator of the bestselling Ghost Train comes a new hologram book featuring nine fiendishly clever holograms in a dashing tale of piracy on the high seas. The fierce pirate shimmers in 3D glory, along with the eerie ghost ship, a powerful mermaid, and other enthralling holograms. Die-cut windows extend the fun--and the chills--in this book. Full color.
Industry Reviews Gr 2-4 Edgar, first mate aboard the good ship Sea Urchin, sees his cargo and crew threatened by a ghastly Ghost Pirate, but a sandwich and a mermaid help him save the day. The illustrations perfectly match the inane story line: cartoon paintings with random die-cut holes, plus small, blobby holograms that are seldom placed effectively and don't come clear even in bright sunlight. The skeletal pirate and his equally bony parrot look like small plastic toys. Even readers who have never seen holograms before (if there are any) will quickly lose interest in this amateurish offering. John Peters, New York Public Library Lopate
