Get Smart (DVD, 2008)

Eh. It was alright as a cliche movie about nothing. Rowan Atkinson trumps this category tenfold with Johnny English and I think largely that was because Steve Carell was seriously underplayed. I felt a lack of laughter from a lack of funny moments and jokes. Course, it did have The Rock in it... can't expect much more than that, right?

A film that has Steve Carell in the cast is, for itself, a good reason to go see it. Just look at his track record since "The 40-Year Old Virgin" and also on TVs "The Office". Comedy is the style which Steve fits in. Any attempt to make him try something out of his specialty with the cheesy "Dan in Real Life" and the not-so-funny "Evan Almighty" just go wrong. Fortunately, his speeches, his faces and everything else about Steve in this movie is just amazing, made me laugh a lot and is a clear representation of what Steve was born for and should always do.

A good addition in the cast is Masi Oka (from TVs "Heroes"). I don't know why, I just like him, even though he has a very minor role on this one.

As for the movie, it has a nice storyline a la James Bond (if fact, more of an "Austin Powers" in this case), great action and many absurd situations that will turn your mood good if you are in a bad one. A great step up into the 2008 summer season.

All I can say is what fun! This movie is hilarious! You can sit back and relax and not have to think about anything other than the corny antics that go on in this movie. Don't take it too seriously and you'll have lots of fun with it. It's also suitable for most children too! I would highly recommend!

I think for a remake it was good. I used to watch the original and I think the new characters played their roles very well. The humor was not cheesey and their were plenty of humorous parts through out the movie. A good all around family movie which is getting hard to come by any more.

This movie was so funny! I loved it. It was a sure side splitter. Steve Carrel had an amazing role in this movie, and Ann Hathaway looked beautiful.

Good film. People can complain that it is not as good as the original, but the whole point of remakes is because the original was good enough in the first place. Rent the show on netflix and buy this film. It is worth the money.

This movie is a hoot. What a fun time watching it and laughing out loud. Can Steve Corell be any funnier? Too funny.

i loved the movie it was so funny and i coulde not stop laffing the dvd was not scratched so i watched with out any missing a part of the movie and i almost died of laffing so much.

As a fan of the older TV show, I wasn't sure about this film. It does have some great technological ideas & gadgets. There is some humor that I enjoyed but the love triangle idea was a little annoying. I do like the lead actor (Steve Carell) and actress. I am a fan of Anne Hathaway, so I watched mostly for that reason. It's worth a view but not like the original, if that's what you expect.

"Right Chief". This film hit the mark combining the characters and phrases we grew to love on the original Don Adams' classic with a new story which fit the premise of an unlikely spy who saves the day in spite of himself. "Would you believe" the writer, director, and actors put together a true tribute to the original while creating a piece that stood alone as a comedy that anyone could enjoy. Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Alan Arkin, and Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) portrayed their characters flawlessly. Even if you never saw the original series, this movie will make you laugh out loud. If you haven't seen this film, you've really "missed it by that much."

Very fun movie much like the T.V. series. The whole family could enjoy it over 8 years of age. Not a stellar performance, but certainly good for what it is.

Steve did an excellent job in his part as Max. It's a hilarious movie, if you like funny this is for you! It is also a family frindly movie i would say.

I just love the movie. I think that Anne Hathaway is a major league hottie and her and Steve Carroll work very well together.
