Get Ripped: Get Ripped to the Core

This is a deceptively tough workout. My 15 year-old daughter who is a runner was as sore as I was the next day. Everything is at a reasonable pace with modifications. The resistance of the dvd exercisers is given as is the calories they found to be used in the exercise (maximum of those tested and average of the test group). We used much less weight and were really challenged. I cannot imagine being Ben (the advanced, heaviest load exerciser in the dvd)! You will be able to "grow" your workout with this, both by increasing the resistance and by altering the method, e.g., one-legged balance, using a ball, exchanging body weight for dumbbells and eventually barbells for some exercises. The only down about this is that in "Slim and Lean" during the break between muscle groups, the demo exerciser shows four alternative exercises. Since the group following Jari are all regulars, they show mostly only differences in resistance, not super basic choices like pushups against a wall or wall squats, though Jari mentions those as alternatives. If someone is new to exercising, s/he would have no idea how to "do" those properly. As a person who has exercised for 25 years, I did not know that she meant a wall squat with a ball until I did the "Slim" dvd (after "Core"). This dvd is a great choice for non-dancy exercisers, men and women who need to add weight training to their routine.
