"Crazy" won the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. By 1993, Aerosmith's comeback was in full swing, and GET A GRIP proves that, after soldiering on through drug problems and interpersonal tensions, the band wasn't about to let its new lease on life get away. Most of the material on GET A GRIP is a far cry from the band's celebrated '70s work, both structurally and in terms of production. But while the sound is a bit more panoramic, incorporating more keyboards and a grander, more pop-oriented approach, Steven Tyler and the boys have lost none of their fire here. Tyler's voice may have changed a bit over the years, but what he's lost in sheer lung power he's gained in character, and on the power ballad "Crazy" (one of the biggest hits of the band's career), he demonstrates the passionate poignancy he's capable of. While there are more pop-friendly tunes here than on some of their earlier albums, GET A GRIP does not lack for sheer rocking energy. Songs such as "Livin' on the Edge" are fueled by Joe Perry's distinctive rock-god guitar work, and the Perry-Tyler songwriting team generates both musical sophistication and four-on-the-floor hard rock. Reviews I was amazed when it was in the mailbox today, only three days since I won the bid. I am listening to the cd now and it sounds as good as new. My brother in-law has told me about all the music he buys off e-bay at a reasonable price, and I now know that it is true. Thanks e-bay and a special thanks to James R. I did not care for this Cd as I like most everthing I hear, but this not what I expected from one of the band to come out of my home state. I have seen them twice and never heard these song played live and now I know why. Review ID: 10000000006438490 Was this review helpful? Review ID: 10000000005435471 Was this review helpful? Report this review This CD is pretty much a classic by now but I it is still an awesome CD! Except for one or two songs this whole CD is filled with the best songs that you could listen to over and over again. True, you could download these songs of the internet for free but it would take you a while to get all the songs in a high quality copy so why not buy this CD for a couple bucks instead? Aerosmith had good albums in the 1970's and 1980's but this one from the early 1990's is by far their best work. All the songs are good ones on this CD!
