Album Notes The early 1960s were peak years for George Jones, a period during which he perfected his distinctive and inimitable brand of honky-tonk music. It was also an extremely productive period; in 1962 alone, Jones placed eight singles on Billboard's country Top Forty and released five excellent albums, among them GEORGE JONES SINGS THE HITS OF HIS COUNTRY COUSINS. As its title indicates, GEORGE JONES SINGS THE HITS OF HIS COUNTRY COUSINS features Jones singing songs popularized by others. As on so many other albums from this era, Jones' performances are flawless, providing ample evidence of why most country fans consider Jones the best country singer of all-time. There isn't a weak track among the twelve here; the only disappointment is that the record ends much too soon. Razor and Tie has also released SHE THINKS I STILL CARE, an excellent two-disc compilation of Jones' recordings from this era, as well as a number of Jones' early 1960s albums.
