I didn't know war could be so funny!

I bought this book after watching most of the HBO mini series by the same name.
The book and mini series are based on a series of articles written by Evan Wright and published by Rolling Stone Magazine.
The whole book takes place in a period of about 2 month. Evan Wright (The Reporter) is embedded with a group of highly trained Recon Marines. The marines are placed in a used fleet of humvees and their prime mission was to recon a bridge on the outside of Baghdad. Recon Marines are the equalivent of the Navy Seals and the majority of their missions are done in stealth mode. Somehow in the wisdom?? of their commanding officers, they decide to put these skilled warriors in sub par hummers and have them drive across Iraq similar to the old TV show called Rat Patrol.
The book centers on the adventures of these soldiers and the follies they encounter as they try to carry out thier mission. The problem is the mission seems to change on a daily basis and the commanding officers appear to have little and NO idea of what their mission is.
As my title says there is humor in this war and the cast of charters
are very funny. One that comes to mind is Ray-the driver of the lead hummer.
Most of the time this guy is flying high on Rip Fuel and Skoal. The gems that come out of this guy’s month are priceless.
Read the Rolling Stone story 1st (Available at their website for FREE) if it's your brand of humor-buy the book and while reading the book-watch the hbo series on demand.
If you’re like me and wondering why we're still in Iraq, years after we won the war! This book will give you some insight that you willn't find anywhere else.
