Works only trough a PC and not directly with Wi-Fi. LCD colors ar poor. No bluetooth. Can'tbe held between ear and shoulder, slips off. Great speaker and microfon.

I bought this phone on rebate at a local dealer for 99$ (Dual handsets) to use it as an extension for Skype only (I DO NOT use it as a home phone with a conventional line (I don't have one!))
I had absolutely no expectations for this and was ready to bring it back. Well guess what!? I was very satisfied!
The volume is great for me, the color LCD is just a gadget by my opinion and the range is good for me (I have to say that I live in a one storey apartment, you also have to remember that the DECT technology was invented to prevent interference with all the actual wireless gadgets like routers, bluetooth and microwaves so the range is 1.92GHz to 1.93GHz)
Also, the fact that it uses conventional rechargeable AAA batteries is a ++++ for me. I'm sick of all the special batteries that you pay an exorbitant price for your phone.
The SKYLINK software provided with the phone is OKAY, IT DOES ITS JOB. Had no bugs at all since I installed it (it's been a month now).
There's one thing in the User's guide that I'd like to correct for those who had wonder like me how to dial directly a Skype number on the touch pad, the correct combination of numbers prior to the national code is "011 + Code + Number"

Phone and Skype functions work great. Although I had no problems with the phone, it would be better if the base could be directly plugged into the Modem/Router, eliminating the need for for it to be plugged into your PC and having skype running all the time.
Overall it's a great combo for Skype users!

Phone has a lot of features. I like the fact that you can expand to multiple headsets. The batterie pack are 2 rechargeble AAA NIHM 800ma batteries, which makes them very easy to replace. It also has a build in speaker which makes it it nice for hands off conversation. I wish the buttons where a little bigger and the Skype feature only works when the computer that you plug in the USB is on. It would be great if it where Wifi based instead of USB. Overall great phone for the price. I seem to be having problems with the software that makes the skype phone work. Don't know if it is my computer or the software. I will update review once I figure it out.

I bought a Skype phone. They come as stand-alone units (current models) and have-to-be-connected-to-comput
Would accept return , yet charges restocking fee. I will keep the phones, as they are OK DECT phones as well.
I am somewhat discouraged by the customer service response as they "explained" how Skype works to me. I do not like to be patronized when I have an informed and legitimate concern.

I bought these phones because I use Skype a lot for business, and don't want to be tied down to the computer. In addition, I needed to replace my existing cordless phone.
The phone is light, convenient, and packed with features. I can see all my Skpe contacts at the push of a button, and who is online. I also have a log of all my recent incoming and outgoing calls on both lines. I would love it if it weren't for the fact that I don't hear very well with them, even if I use the speakerphone, which is a shame. It isn't a problem with my hearing either, as I hear much better when I use a hardcorded analogue phone, or Skype directly from a computer.
I am disappointed, and would not buy it again.

After 1 year of using GE Skype / Dect phone I must say I'm very satisfied. I will not comment regular land line use, just Skype function. If you're planing to use this phone just for Land line, it will function like any other DECT phone, nice and clear.
I suggest you to update your software from official web site before install:

When it's setup, you will see your Skype contacts on color display, just use it like any other cell phone. Quality of sound is perfect, like you're using any other phone. In ideal condition (fast internet) you'll have best quality sound ever!
You can setup different ring types for land line and skype calls, also you can store 1.000 contacts in your land line phone book. Chat is not available, so this phone is only for Skype calls, not messaging.
Speaker phone is great option, you can make pizzas and talk with your cousin in Japan ;)

I bought the phone and paid for 12 months of skype. The service isn't that good. It is laging a lot. It isn't that easy to use either. I am going to get rid of my phones until they can figure out how to make talking a lot smoother. I have had this phone for a couple of months and it is not what I expected. The volume is low and the skype feature does not work very well on this set of phones. I would recommend looking for a different phone set. The skype service has been working good but the phone is not allowing a great connection for smooth talking.

The Item works greatThis is a good product i have it connected with my skype and with magic jack. Work perfectly. The onely thing is the screen resolution is kinda small but anyway it is doing for what is design to do.

A Good BuyWe purchased to use with Skype so we could keep in touch with some family members now overseas. It is a very useful phone with clear reception for both regular and internet based calls. Phone range is better than past cordless phones as I can take this one to the edge of our property without any loss on clarity or function.

The personal do not provide any information except what they read from their prepared script. The GE logo is the only reason I purchased the device.

Decent PhoneThis is a great phone, with headsets. Easy to use, just plug the usb into your computer and install the software easily.
The bad thing that I don't like is that when you make a new contact stored on the phone memory you can't call it using skype accont so you need to have phone line plugged into the phone.
I decided to buy this kind of phones since I want to use skype calling land lines within the US as I have bought a package from skype.com

Works great, voip seems to work well. The only thing id like to change is how it picks up the skype contact list. It shows you just the phone numbers and not the contact names. Not sure if theres a way to fix that or not but i haven't found it. Otherwise, decent phone for skype.

This product works better than I expected. The clarity of the phone is a lot better than at&t. It has it's draw backs, but benefits will more than out weight the cons. I am now paying $30 a year and getting more than what I was paying $70 a month for before. If you have a cable modem or DSL get this item and you will be able to keep more of your green.

IP telephony is not the future; we're using it for a while. Skype was first (well known) software for IP telephony, now we have many different clones, but this small peace of software gave us chance to talk for free.
GE added Skype feature on some or their DECT phones, now you can have both in one, landline and Skype. GE 28300 it's not the newest GE phone, but it was first decent Skype wireless phone, and still one of the best on the market.
Many of you are already using IP telephony with your Cable provider, yeah, they gave you the line - but that line is connected to your modem just like a Skype. So why pay $30 monthly when you can buy regular land number and 'stick' it to your Skype account for much less?
This phone is very simple, you just need to adjust rings for land line and for Skype calls, and you're setup. There is software which you need to install before connect the phone to Skype, after that, your contact book will be transformed to your new Skype phone and it will look and act like a desktop Skype. You can also manipulate with DECT line like with other DECT (landline) phones, add contacts, change screen and settings.
If you're using Skype, and want to feel free, this handset will be your goal. All the functions from the regular GE phone are present, so you don't have to worry about comfort. New models are coming, but this one is one of the first 'well' working Skype phone. The best thing is that it doesn’t use your WiFi frequency, so no problems with Wireless routers and networks.
