IT LISTS ABSOLUTELY ALL OF THE SPECS LIKE RI, READINGS ON STONES WITH SPECTROSCOPES, AND SPECIFIC GRAVITY. I CAN NOT STRESS THE VALUE OF THIS BOOK, BOTH FOR THE NOVICE AND THE SCIENTIST AS WELL...IT IS VERY EASY READING THO. VERY INTERESTING STORIES..ABOUT TECHNIQUES AND COUNTRIES OF MINING AS WELL AS CUTTING AND FACETING. THIS BOOK HAS A MORE COMPLETE COMPILATION OF GEMS AND MINERALS, EVEN, THAN AN OTHER BOOK I KNOW OF...I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO OPERATE WITHOUT THIS BOOK.

This is a very informative book for anyone wishing to acquire and appreciate exotic gemstones from around the world.

This has got to be by far the best book on gemstones that I have bought as of yet. It describes the gems in every way. I have in the past had to buy 3 books to get what I wanted out of this 1 book and I am still looking for the information that I need, but this book has it all. I love this book.

This book is very informative with excellent pictures. So far there is nothing to dislike about it. GEMSTONES OF THE WORLD does just that-gives you information on every gemstone there is and then some. It is a good reference book for the person just starting in gemstones. I bought this book because I have started buying gemstone rings and had no idea what I was buying. This book takes care of that. There is a lot of reading from what the stones are comprised of to how & why of cutting stones to where they can be found. The photos show the many facets & cuts there are and the different colors/types of stones. I recommend this book.

This book is a excellent reference book!! A picture of every gem in just about every for the gem comes in from rough to faceted form. You will see rough, facets, cabochons, a different array of colors that appear in each gem the book covers, Very informative, educational, and a great elp to every Gemlover. I don't care if your a gemologist or just a gem lover, this book will be a asset to your collection!! A gem of a gem! You will not be sorry if you add tihs book to your gem collection!! And this particular book this seller is offering has been pulled from the shelves due to a type - o on the cover of the book! So this will be worth much more in the future just due to the hard back book descriptive type-o on the cover, Nothing to remove value from the book only to add value in the future! Wonderful color photos of gemstones include color variations and cuts as well as printed information. Very handy size. If you only buy one, buy this one!
