The Gate House by Nelson Demille (2008, Hardcover)

Nelson Demille's long-awaited sequel to The Gold Coast is another masterwork from this great American novelist. His razor-sharp wit, black humor, sarcasm, and just-plain-bitchiness (my favorite things about his writing) are intact and do not disappoint. Those of us who have read all his books will be aware that the twists and turns of the plot are equal to the best of his considerable body of work. I'll give no more away...you must read it for yourself. Those who are new might start with The Lion's Game..it'll knock your socks off! And shop for it on Ebay, home of some amazing deals.

I liked the way this sequil book, The Gate House, was matched with The Gold Coast Eventhough 10 years passes it just flos together in time. All Nelson DeMille books are great !!! At firsr I thought it was alittle long.....but after reading it I realized that all the content was very much needed.

love Nelson DeMille books...this one takes place 10 years after the Gold Coast story when everyone returns to Long Island for the funeral of the woman who lived in the gate house to the estate,the caretaker's wife..very interesting and has enough details to remind me of what happened in the original book or if you didn't read that one...hard to put down after you start reading it...

I enjoyed the book immensely, however, you should read the Gold Coast by the same author which was written previously

This is Nelson's DeMille's latest novel and based mostly on the events that took place in his former best seller The Gold Coast. Characters are fun, fallible and worth wanting to know what happens to them.

If you read the gold coast you will really like this book, you might like it even if you did not read the first one. it is easy to read and a great story.

Long winded 10 years later follow up of The Gold Coast. Still a good read but not the authors best.Take a sentimental journey with John Sutter's insight, wit, sarcasm and lust for his ex wife Susan. Don't forget to watch out for all his past problems that have come back to haunt him. For a DeMille fan it's a must read.

I have every book Nelson Demille has written... love this author. The earlier books were great, but I also like the Camel Club series... and this is the latest one. Stories are fast paced, clever and interesting.

I didn’t consider “Gold Coast” to one of DeMille’s best efforts but having grown up in the area I decided to give “The Gate House” a try. I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

This is a great sequel to the Gold Coast by same author! It is Prime Demille. All of the humor, turmoil and great one liners are there. If you haven't read the Gold Coast you would still enjoy it as he fills in where there would be questions and at the appropriate time. My favorite line in the book is "...the carpet matched the drapes."

THIS IS A PAGE TURNER! If you can't loose any sleep don't read this in bed!

I decided to buy this book for my sister as a Christmas present. We usually get our books from the Library or garage sales. A hard covered new book just for you is special.

Demille is my favorite writer so I've loved every book he's written.
The Gate House is the sequel to the Gold Coast (my all time favorite book).
I would recommend reading the Gold Coast before the Gate House.
The Gate House is not quite as funny as the Gold Coast but a very good book.
No one can beat Demille's sarcasm.
