OUR EVALUATION and OPINION For What We've Used

This is a well nigh excellent device.
I compared it against the Infiniti G35's built in unit which I'm still currently using Zenrin maps. They were outstanding in the beginning but their updated maps are deplorable. Perhaps that's why Infiniti now uses NavTeq the same people that provide map information for Garmin.
The Garmin has a few shortcomings, but none for it's prime purpose as a navigation unit. However the ones that it does have (as bells and whistles) are significant. 1st the volume of the navigation voice through the unit itself is much too low, fortunately it can played through your car radio and as such amplified to an excellent level. The onscreen map doesn't display too many of it's own rolling landmarks. More descriptive mapping would be great. Listings for Points Of Interest can be skimpy (such as looking for a whataburger franchise not all on 360 were listed). The bluetooth disconnects from the iPhone, you have to manually reconnect it, however sometimes it does reconnect on it's own. Downloading the updated firmware and maps was easy but tiresome. An AC power supply and case should be included, especially at the premium price. Voice command has proven to be excellent outstanding even. Using the unit is intuitive which is a major plus. Directions/Routing are accurate here in TX, and time to reroute has been excellent. MSN provides accurate movie times, and gas pricing seems to be accurate. Mounting and portability are excellent. Despite it's shortcomings this unit is worth the discounted price paid, but should be better than what it is for the retail price, and yet there isn't anything better out there that I've gotten to test.
