Garmin nuvi 850 Car GPS Receiver

Have I enjoyed using the GPS and have used it for two recent trips. It does seem to lack factoring in stop lights when picking routes. Recent trip to Chicago it choose a route 4 miles shorter but with about 18 stop lights a opposed to the interstate without the stop lights. Otherwise has been a great gps. The hands free feature is quite handy.

I recently purchased a GARMIN GPS system. To date all of my purchases on E-Bay
have been new, top of the line merchandise, at a good price. The Garmin was no
different. Delivery is usually ahead of schedule and sellers always try to make
the transaction a positive experience. The Garmin I bought was described well having one feature that stood out. The unit was detachable from its base so that you could remove it and put it in your pocket when you leave your vehicle. This was my primary reason for the choice after seeing several cars broken into and the GPS systems stolen and a local mall. Otherwise the unit works well, is upgradeable, and is voice activated. It also provides audible step by step driving directions so you can concentrate on the road.

I bought this version because I thought the voice activation feature would make it easier for my technologically challenged wife to use. The jury is still out on that one. Not sure I have even mastered all its features. It does take a while to lock on to a satellite, although these newer models are supposed to speed that process up. All in all an excellent GPS with a simple user interface. Now that it is discontinued, the price is ridiculously low. Ask yourself if you need the bluetooth feature, this one does NOT have. Otherwise, a great GPS for the money.

It was great to find this GPS in my price range. If I needed another one I would get it from this seller

I like it, it works very well. My only complaint is that the suction cup on the cradle doesn't stick very well(falls off).

It constantly wants you to make "U" turns. I don't need something to tell me to go backs wherre I had been. I was going to return it but it got stolen.

I recently baught this becouse my other one "a Tom Tom" was stolen out of my truck...I went with a Garmin this time becouse of the reviews I had read about them. So far I have no complaints...

Excellent travel companion, especially in traveling sales. Just tell it where to go, by voice commands and it does the rest. Love the convenience of speaking commands and the level of accuracy (when there is no other noise in the car) is excellent...

I can use this for geo caching and car directions. It has a battery life of a few hours, so you can use it outside your car

It beats any thing out there. I have tried outers and they don't compair with the Garmin 850 GPS receiver. Talks to you and is very easy to program.

I have owned many GPS units and Garmin is my favorite unit for having updated mapping and ease of use. The 850 unit has been the easiest to use and the screen is the easiest of all of them to see in daylight conditions. I use this unit both in my car and on my boat with very good results. For someone looking for a easy to use and convenient GPS your best buy for the moneyis the Garmin 850 or 855.

This unit has everything my husband and I want and need. Names of roads, has a voice telling me when to turn, turn by turn instructions, names of business that are close, and many more.

The voice controlled part does not work very well -- You still have to type in addresses??? What does it help-favorites only as far as I can see.

I bought this for my wife and find that it is very user friendly. The voice recognition works excellent and is easy to use. This is my 5th Garmin and I love it. I researched a lot of units and found this to be the best unit for the price.

I actually really like this GPS but there are a couple of small issues that are bugging me with it. It seems to freeze every now and then when you are using it. It will fix itself most of the time but you do have to turn it on and off once in a while. For basic use it is great but if you need to use it continuously it has these little quirks!!!! I love the voice control although if you need to put in a address you have to type that part in but you can navigate through it with ease otherwise! Well worth the $179 I paid for it, if I had paid over $500 like the retail price is I would have taken it back!

So far all is well. Took a little getting used to (actually haven't even tried the voice activated portion, but will soon.) I bought it since its a Garmin, the top name in GPS'.
