I'm a long-time satisfied Garmin customer. My first GPS was a Garmin 45 handheld in the '80s. My first car GPS was a Garmin i2. The one feature of the i2 which I will miss is using 2 AA batteries when away from the car, or when the 12v lighter outlet dies, etc. It fits the same mounts as my i2, and I prefer a Garmin portable dash mount.

The large touch screen display is great. The user interface (menu navigation, etc.) is not absolutely how I would have done it myself, but usually pretty close. It's fine to use without even reading the manual.

Assume the device and user interface are nearly perfect except for the things I mention. The number of things which are ingenius and work far better than you have any right to expect, are too numerous to list.

My pet peeve is the lack of a "go immediately back to the map" button once you are down in the menus, preferably with a button on the map to toggle back to where you were at in the menus. I hate being in the middle of naming a saved waypoint or perusing a list of all Citizens Banks, and having to choose between ditching it to use the map for an upcoming turn, or having to navigate totally by trusting the voice. Not every "keep right on Main Street in 0.2 miles" means the same thing. It's good to see the map when looking out the windshield at a 6-way fork in the road! Sometimes it takes hitting the "back" button many times until the main menu screen comes up, then having to hit the "map" icon. Just put a map button on EVERY screen!

Similarly, zooming in and out one level at a time using just + and - buttons is slow...a zoom scale with all the choices, or at least a choice of zooming several levels at once would be better.

The little "turn maps" shown when reviewing future turns, don't follow your map orientation configuration, and aren't "North up" either. Why they chose to apparently orient the map of a turn 100 miles ahead, in some seemingly random direction (maybe my current heading which changes as I go around each curve in the road...or maybe the average heading since the previous little "turn map"?), baffles me. Maybe I should read the manual.

The v9 maps on my 750 are more up to date than the v7 maps on my i2.

The 750 finds optimal routes extremely well, including choosing the fastest way to hit multiple intermediate destinations ("via points") on the way to a final destination. Or you can build/enter your own routes with waypoints. It recalculates in a flash after you deviate or detour.

But on a 14-hour trip, adding a via point along the route (even a McDonalds 5 miles ahead), sometimes let it find even better routes for the remaining part of the trip than it initially had, and bring the ETA down. So on long trips, doing that (and not necessarily actually taking the exit to McD) or canceling/restarting navigation every hour or two, to recalculate the remaining route to your final destination, might help.

I bought it Garmin-refurbished. It was flawless, except the battery had apparently not been discharged/recharged enough by the previous owner and lost capacity. The first time I unplugged it, it ran 7 minutes. 2nd time 37 minutes. 5th time 2h15m. I may ask for a new battery, depending upon how well it performs after I experiment some more.

I haven't tried any of the music, photo, or "voice through car-radio" features yet.

I consider the Garmin Nuvi 750 a great bargain.

Have been traveling northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and I am amazed at how well the Nuvi has guided me. Voice commands are very easy to understand, and programming is pretty much a no-brainer. I have intentionally driven through some larger cities, and tried to get lost to no avail. The Nuvi guided me back on course with ease. I am really pleased with this product. It is one of the best items I have bought over the years.

The Garmin NUVI 750 GPS is an older generation version of the NUVI 760/765, lacking only BlueTooth capability (which I neither need nor want). Mine is a factory-refurbished unit. I was looking for a reasonably priced, reliable alternative to the GPS capabilty available on my cell phone. This is it. I find it to be extremely accurate and reliable and a godsend when trying to navigate my way to unfamiliar places. It frequently knows routes to places I've traveled to many times which are shorter than my normal routes. The display is large, clear and bright, even in bright daylight conditions. It seems to insist on giving you the shortest route by default, unless you tell it to do otherwise, occasionally making turns onto winding connector roads that I would normally avoid. A few minor gripes: after a long stretch of non-use, it takes several minutes (and miles) to reacquire the satellites. This can be very inconvenient if you are starting off from an unfamiliar place. It also sometimes misses turns (i.e. no voice prompt) that appear to it to be continuations of the same road. I've also found that it is not 100% accurate as to exact physical locations. For instance, it says my house is located a good quarter mile from where it actually is, and recently wanted to send me over a mile up the street from an actual hospital entrance. I attribute this to the mapping software being used, which, if it is anything like Mapquest or Google, can be very inaccurate at times. All-in-all, a great purchase and I'd do it again.

Exactly what I was looking for in a GPS. Big screen for easy viewing, portable, and decent battery life. Has a lot of bells and whistles that are nice to have especially for the price. The MP3 and voice through radio works very well.

  No more MAPS!!!!

No more squinting to read maps and searching for streets that can only be read by a ant or mosquito!!! Excellent product; turn by turn voice prompt is a great feature.....I don't even look at the map; quality of basic turn by turn voice is very good but the voice that calls out street names is quite poor in volume and clarity and leaves much to be desired. Unit is very simple to learn/operate. On/Off switch is "slide type" and seems rather "flimsy and prone to malfunction." The wider screen is a plus but does not really contribute to navigation while driving since you should be keeping your eyeballs on the road and your hands on the wheel anyway. This GPS also shows the "speed limit" in most areas, which should help you keep that lead foot off the accelerator and spare your husband or wife in the passenger seat from suffering with "white knuckles syndrome."

Excellent GPS, provides everything I expected. It finds the satelite quickly and I haven't seen it drop a signal yet. I only locked it up once when it had to "recalculate about 6 times, they I just turned the power off and on again and it was fine. Would recommend the model.

PROBABLY DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. IT TAKES ME DIRECTLY WHERE I WANT TO GO, WITH EXCELLANT PROMPTS. ALTHOUGH NOT A WEAKNESS, IT WILL TAKE THE SHORTEST ROUTE; LIKE OUT THROUGH THE BOONIES. YOU SHOULD REVIEW IT'S PATH AND MAKE SURE YOU DON'T SEE A LOT OF COUNTY ROADS ON THE TRIP, UNLESS YOU LIKE TRAVELING THROUGH THE COUNTRY.I RECENTLY TOOK 81 MILE TRIP AND TOOK FREEWAY MOST OF THE TIME. I LET GPS BRING ME BACK THROUGH IT'S ROUTE AND IT WAS ONLY 70 MILES. GPS TRIP WAS SHORTER BUT TOOK LONGER AS IT TOOK JUST ABOUT EVERY COUNTY ROAD AROUND. LIKE I SAID , THIS WAS NOT GPS FAULT , BUT MINE FOR LETTING IT PLAN A ROUTE THAT WASN'T THE BEST FOR ME.

I love this little GPS. It does everything that I expected it too, and more. I decided to buy one, but didn't have the funds to buy a new one. I'm not sorry I did.
I did have to send it in to Garmin and get it unlocked, but the added investment was well worth it. When the service dept at garmin found out what I paid for it, they said I didn't buy it, I stole it. After using it, I feel they're right.

Great product - all of the cons are nitpicky things
Review created: 06/02/09

Pros:
It can get you to just about any place that you want to get to.
Very easy to pick points of interest and set them into your trip.
Windshield mount works great at keeping the Garmin secure to the vehicle.
Animated car on the road shows well in advance when you need to turn and what direction.
Small enough to easily hide or keep in your pocket when not in the vehicle.

Cons:
Windshield mount leaves circles where it was mounted (small thing and there are other ways to mount it)
Cannot seem to find the lane assistance screen that was shown in the product description (but since it tells you well in advance what direction that you are going to turn this should not be a biggie)
Very seldom it will tell me to turn at a place where there is not a place to turn. Usually this is because I am a few hundred yards ahead of where the unit thinks that I am (This only happens when there is very thick cloud cover or storms in the area)

I needed a portable GPS to use in various vehicles. I know people who have the Garmin and recommended it to me. I have another GPS in my Truck, and the Garmin is much easier to use, as they say, user friendly! I have had no problems with it, and it gets me to where I need to go very easily. I would highly recommend this to others in need of a GPS.

We are very pleased with the overall operation of this 750, especially the feature that provides an FM radio signal to the car radio. In some traffic conditions, the louder voice is very welcome. We do wish that the rural maps were more complete, however, we are very satisfied with the guidance provided. The ball mount makes it posible to use many different mounting devices in virtually any automobile make or model.

We decided to buy from an eBay listing because we could get a more advanced full featured Garmin unit at a simular price to the cheaper models offered in local stores. In other words, a better buy from eBay.

  Garmin Nuvi 750 GPS Receiver
Review created: 05/05/09

This is the second GPS I've owned. The first was over 10 years ago, and didn't work very well. This unit is a hundred times better. I bought it for a 1200 mile road trip and it took us right to the address, although sometimes we had to over ride the instructions to take a prefered route over what was suggested.
Since returing from the trip I've been using it to locate local addresses for my business and it works great. The unit came without a manual, so I had to locate and print one off the internet, a minor aggravation. I bought this unit without knowing much about Auto GPSs and after having experience with this one I might shop for some additional freaures, but overall, I'm pleased with this unit and it functions as advertized.

The Nuvi 750 is awesome. It works well in all conditions I have used it in so far. It has even marked some of my new favorite camp sites way off the normal roads so I can find them again later.

I like the ability to see how many miles left for my trip always on the screen. One thing I'm not too happy with is the machines insistance I take a certain way even when it isn't the fastest or the shortest. Another thing is it is difficult to set a trip up with a "via". But besides those two issues, I am completely happy with the unit and look forward to many years of easy driving.

I received the navigation system in new condition. It is refurbished, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. I am a salesperson who travels by car quite frequently, so it was a long overdue purchase. It is a great product and the seller was quick to ship and informative on it's shipping progress. I would recommend both the product and the seller.

It works great, and does everything that you could want from a GPS.
I had a street pilotIII before on My motorcycle, and liked it, but the improvements in the new models are great. The touchscreen is perfect. I'm very happy with the product.

This garmin is fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of my friend had them and I didn't think I needed one, but they talked me into buying one, so I came to ebay, got it a wonderful price and just love it. You can go the wrong way and the garmin recalculates your wrong turn and sends you exactly where you want to go.

GPS works great! Screen size is good! It's a touch screen that makes it easy to use. It would be a good idea to get a friction stand so that it is portable and easy to move around. To prevent theft partability is very important.

Bought this after owning the Nuvi 350, the Nuvi 750 works great and I really enjoy the FM feature. I've been able to listen to music that I've not listed to in years. Antenna is not as good as the 350's, but difference does not cause delay in acquiring signals. Great GPS!
