Garmin nuvi 1390T Car GPS Receiver

The GPS functionality of the Garmin is fabulous. I bought this specifically for the bluetooth feature, which on the Garmin site says it's compatible. Since update of 3.1.2, no longer compatible. Garmin customer support is now saying the only iphone their units are guaranteed to work with is first generation iphone. But clearly that's not true. My daughter has 3G, same Garmin but never upgraded to 3.1, still on 3.0, and hers works like a charm. So just be forewarned that if you have 3G or 3GS with 3.1 or 3.1.2 update, it will not work with Garmin bluetooth, the Garmin will constantly keep shutting itself down while in bluetooth mode. Little disappointed in Garmin and hopefully they will write a fix to this, but the GPS works fabulous.

I bought this unit to upgrade my Streetpilot 550c and have been awestruck by it's performance! It is slim and light. It detaches from the mounting unit easily (compared to the 550c). I chose this model because of the features it contained: Bluetooth, lifetime traffic, lane indicators, speed limit indicator, the ability to enter coordinates, etc. It also gets you where you want to go promptly and accurately! OK, none of them are foolproof and you should have somewhat of an idea of where you are and where you want to go, but as GPS's go, this one does a great job!! I wish it was able to sort thru multiple locations and some other high end models do, but I wasn't willing to pay the extra price. It was a compromise on this point. There are other features on the 1390T that I haven't explored yet. From past Garmin experience, I know Garmin customer service is very good and they stand behind their products.
Oh, yes. I'm having difficulty with the "go home" feature. I can't seem to get it to work right, yet. I'm sure the problem is in my poor 70 year old brain, not the Garmin! I'll get it programed right eventually!
I would recommend this unit to anyone without hesitation and the seller was great and gave me a great price.

This is a great GPS. I drive in high traffic areas at times the the lane feature is invaluable. Tells you the exact lane to be in i.e. left side of a left turn lane or right side of a left turn lane. Large and easy to read screen, yet so much smaller than my older Magellan. Highly recommend it to anyone.
