I was able to mount this on my steering wheel and find my way around California. You have to have good eye sight in order to take advantage of this. Best if you have your passenger watch it for you. I had one of the less expensive units for hiking, but this one has all the streets so you can take full advantage of it. Keep in mind that you will want to have extra batteries with you as it is hard on them. I would use the cigarette lighter adapter if you plan a long trip.
