Cons:

1. Does not have SD memory slot. Only comes with internal memory

Horizontal Comparision:

1. Does not have integrated FM wireless transmitter, StreetPilot 2730 & 7200 do.

3. Pre-programmed media that stores City Navigator detailed maps of North America. StreetPilot 7200 has it available for Europe as well
4. Display size is 1.7 x 3.3 which is smaller but lighter than 7200 with a display size of 3.43 x 6.10
5. Does not have Audio/video input, 7200 does.

  Garmin StreetPilot® 2820 GPS Receiver

Love my Garmin StreetPilot® 2820 GPS Receiver. I live in the Florida Panhandle and I thought there might be problems finding streets in rural areas, BUT I WAS WRONG. It has preformed better than I expected. It is really easy to use. I let my 78 year old father use it while he was down visiting and he had not problems figuring out how to use it after 5 minutes of instructions. I would highly recommend this unit.

UPDATE.............I have had this unit for over a year now and it is still working great. No problems to report. It is easy to update on line and the one time I had to call Garmin tech support for a minor issue they were GREAT to deal with. They solved the problem quickly and were very knowledgeable. And how about this, THEY SPOKE ENGLISH.

I like this product. It works well, and is a big improvement from my Garmin 2620. This 2820 has a 3d Map, with voices that talk the actually street name. I had to play with the setting alot, to get the screen the way I wanted it. It starts up faster and is very accurate. I didn't try the traffic options yet or the bluetooth.

  Most features for least money

After owning 6 other (I presently have 5) this IS the best Garmin GPS for the money. It has the best features (ie:automatic routing, easy to read display, waterproof, XM/weather/traffic) for someone who tours on a motorcycle. Garmin is the best GPS and this is their most useful product. I highly recommend the 2820. It is very versatile, I use it in every vehicle I drive (motorcycle, car, truck bus). I even use this unit in my GPS equipped vehicles, when on trips.
For use on the motorcycle you do need additional mounting componets that are easy to find and install. I use the RAM mounts and love 'em.
You can spend more, but you can't spend better!

This gps will replace the one I have. The hook up is the same for my motorcycle. It also expands the capability of the gps with blue tooth for the phone. I will now listen to xm while I am traveling on the bike and will be able to transfer it to my truck or car. Very important feature is the weather when you are out on the bike along way from home. You can see which way storms are coming and take an alternate route. Garmin is the best.

I decided to buy this due to my friends in the motorcycle club having the same manufacture, and we could swap routes via computer. Works great, It has already gotten us out of jams and or wrong info for directions. Very accurate, at times the recalculating gets annoying. We used it on our 6,635 mile trip across country, finding fuel stops and or food when necessary. The only problen we really had was the connector kept falling off the back of the unit or loosing contact. We use this in the truck for long distance rides, on the motorcycle club rides to find really unusual directions and my wife uses it in her job as she has to go all over the county to different homes. Realy versitel.

The unit comes with what is needed for an automobile. I wanted to use it on my motorcycle. That means buying a new bracket and power supply. The unit links via blue tooth to my phone and works well with Nav traffic and weather via the XM radio antennae. It has many features that work very well. It is difficult to see in bright sunlight but that is about my only complaint and I am a rather experienced GPS user.

Is this the best GPS ever?

Well I believe this is one of the best on the market ,all I had read and was told about this unit is true. We use it all the time ,from simple navigation to week long road trips. Also the bluetooth phone connection works great for us,the sound is good and whoever I'm talking with tells me they can hear me very clear. This GPS is also great for adding your own waypoints, very easy to use with the computer. Then the final reason is how easy we can load our Geocaching waypoints on it, and then navigate our way to them. This is one of our favorite features.

My previous unit was stolen. When I was shopping around to replace this one, I couldn't find anything comparable that wasn't $1K. I use this with the XM antenna, it works great. I move it from the Van to the motorcycle, it is even waterproof. Awesome GPS! It may be a little big for some people but it works great for me.

This is a fantastic device. When connected to the optional GXM 30 radio, external microphone and stereo attachment I can control all the information for my car. I get XM traffic information from my radio and when I select a destination the GPS automatically selects a route that avoids traffic. When someone calls me the caller ID is automatically displayed on the screen. Not to mention being able to control my XM radio through the GPS. This item cannot be beat!

The street Pilot is easy to use, easy to update,is water resistent and a size that is compatable for both my Motorcycle and cars.I have uesd the mp3 player feature but not the Bluetooth feature. Directions for loading music is vague and not correct. All music must be converted to a 3mu format. No way to know that unless you use Garmin tech support. The screen is bright and clear on the car dash but would recommend a shade for the Motorcycle. It could also use a portable power source.

I wanted a GPS that visible in daylight, easy to use, bluetooth ready, and could handle multiple stops. I sent my wife on a 2000 mi trip with no training and it worked. She is not a tekkie, and she loved it. A great investment in travel planning.

I am in Real Estate Sales. After calling Garmin Tect. Support and their comments about the 2820, I knew this receiver would be best for my use. This unit out performs any of the Nuvi Series. The advantage of multiple address entries certainly has made my profession much easier. Thanks Again, John Harris Sr.

Im glad I have one now. I used the book maps for years and spent a lot replacing them. I like the save feature when the device is turned off and recent finds. I also have the traffic locator which does make a difference in rerouting. Overall this is a great product and for the price I couldnt beat it. Look for it between 600 and 1000 dollars
