    This unit is everything it is advertised to be and more. It is very user friendly and can go from the box, to the wrist, and be functional without reading the entire manual. Buttons are well placed and friendly.

    I have used the device regularly since receiving it as a Christmas gift and I am motivated to participate in and improve my running abilities with input provided by this unit.

    I strongly recommend it to runners as the data it provides is a great motivator! Kudos to Garmin for another fine product in their line. This product extends their excellent offering of products into another consumer section. If you do purchase this device, there is one drawback I want you to be aware of; you may have to increase your running shoe budget because, I suspect you will be going through them at a faster rate while using this device to manage your running program.

    PostScript: After more than two years of use I am just as excited as the day it was first used. The batteries have remained fully functional and the intuitive placement and options of the display still serve the runner well.

    I have been using the Garmin Forerunner 201 for 2 months and it was helped me a lot with my training. I run most of the time on the streets and even in the areas that have a lot of tree coverage the 201 may get a weak signal but is able to track my run without a problem. Software from Garmin is OK but I prefer using SportsTracks, a downloadable shareware program. From what I understand some the newer models are more accurate. It would also be nice to have the heart monitor, although I do not think I would use it during ever run. I'd recommend the Garmin Forerunner 201 for those on a budget.
