Album Notes Yet another in a long line of successful Gangsta Grillz mixtapes this one pairs DJ Drama alongside former St. Lunatiks member Nelly in commemoration of the Dirty South's connections to the Midwest. GANGSTA GRILLZ XIII: PRELUDE TO THE MIXTAPE brings together some of hip-hop's hottest artists, representing a diverse cross-section of the genre's more commercial practitioners. Among the numerous hip-hop stars on hand for the celebration are Young Buck, the Youngbloodz, Young Jeezy, Slim Thug, T.I., Jay-Z, The Game, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Fat Joe, Lil Scrappy, Lil Boosie, Dipset, and Trick Daddy. Various spoken word interludes from Nelly are interspersed between the 20 exclusive tracks. One of the mixtape's most inspired collaborations finds Jay-Z trading verses with Slim Thug on "I Ain't Heard of That."
