Gandhi (DVD, 2007, 2-Disc Set; 25th Anniversary Edition)

One of the great movies. Well worth owning. Nice bonus features about the making of the film too.

Sir Richard Attenborough has done a superb job with this film. It is objective, well researched and brings in the main players of India's independence struggle. It portrays Gandhi as the leader of the independence ("quit India") movement and his amazing humanity, high morals, incredible humility and indomiatable will in such an inspiring way. A great example and icon for today's youth.

Hats off also to Sir Richard for the fair and factual way this epic of a film is narrated, as it actually shows the British in rather poor light. It is also an eye-opener for many of us who thought the Brits went to India to help them and shows some of the brutality of the British Raj to the Indians to subjugate them.

In our present troubled times of the horrors of war and violence in our world this film of India's victory against insurmountable odds to win independence through non-violence must be a great example to the young and old alike that violence is not the way to victory.

A giant of a film about a giant of a man! Highly recommended!

I saw the movie when it first came out into theatres many years ago. It left such a huge impact on me that I wanted to watch it again now, and especially share it with my children.

Gandhi was such an incredible, intelligent man, empathetic, and gentle. To find a way to react to violence without violence was beautiful in thought, horrific in deed ( because Gandhi took such beatings because of his concept).

Great epic picture. Great purchase price. Great fast delivery. Richard Attenborough's masterpiece of direction with the remarkable performance by Ben Kingsley. Still one of the top ten movies even after 25 years. This movie is truly timeless.

Gandhi has been a favorite movie of mine for decades. I love this movie because it is based on the true story of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and his fight for the rights of an oppressed India through the principles of Non-violent Civil disobedience, which is a difficult but dutiful way to create the changes so needed in times of corruption!

I feel the directors did a marvelous job depicting the setting, situations, and scope in as much accuracy as they could find (which was very much) on the life and the country of the man who became known as "Mahatma", or "Great Spirit".
The cast could not have been better. This is Ben Kingsley's master piece role, he is a great actor in any movie, but Gandhi will be his finest of moments!

This is a must see movie, an all time classic. It makes me cry, it makes me laugh, it makes me want to be a better person, and lets me know that one person can make a difference, sometimes a great difference!

Gandhi DVD was delivered promptly, transaction was good but quality of DVD not great. The DVD skips a lot and is hard to watch in several areas of the movie.
