Who'd have thought Joe Bonsall was such a prolific writer?
G.I. Joe & Lillie was a book I couldn't put down until I finished it! Growing up the daughter of U.S. Navy sailor and a W.A.C., I instantly bonded to the storyline, and felt like I had stepped right into my own family's story!
After I finished the book I passed it on to my 71 year old mother to read. And my sister.
G.I. Joe & Lillie certainly raised a son who has his priorities right! And for both to have come from such adversity, what a blessing it must have been to have known them! Ahhh, but now I do!

) I bought the book after listening to the author sing the song by the same title. The book is easy to read and is fairly interesting, although there are times when it seems there may be too much detail on family background presented. When I heard the song, which is very emotional, I was curious to learn more about the author and his parents. My reaction is that Joe is better suited to singing than writing a book.

I am a veteran's wife and my daughter saw this book on TV. She mentioned it to me and I bought it. Thank goodness! I loved it; however, it took me longer than usual to read it because I had to stop and wipe the tears. I am very pleased with my purchase.

If you Like the Oakridge Boys then this is a Must readI went to see the Oakridge Boys in Roanoke Rapids NC when they were there and he mentioned his Mama was from there. I came home and did some research and found this book he had wrote about and could not resist ordering it.

A Must Read!I had seen the Oak Ridge Boys on television singing the song "G.I. Joe and Lillie" some time back. On that show, Joseph Bonsall mentioned that he had written this book. I've wanted to read it since then. I recently found it on Ebay and was thrilled to purchase it. This book is a beautiful tribute to two very special parents written by their own son, Joseph Bonsall, tenor singer for the Oak Ridge Boys. I absolutely LOVED every second of this book. I'm sure his parents would be very proud and are so honored with this well written memoir. This book will make you laugh and cry as you get to know this lovely couple.
The book is also personally autographed by Joseph Bonsall and the cd single of "G. I. Joe and Lillie", performed by The Oak Ridge Boys, is included.
A friend at work wanted to borrow my book when I told her about it, but there was no way I was parting with it, so I ordered her a copy also. Mine is a keeper!
