G.I. Jane (DVD, 1998)

i enjoyed the movie very much. it shows the hardship of women in the military, and the things they go through and the courageit takes to take on such a challenge. i didnt the movie correctly described the strength of women physically though.

Demi Moore stars as Lieutenant Jordan O'Neil, the first female candidate for the U.S. Navy SEAL unit, a clandestine strike force drawn from the crème de la crème of the combined services--an opportunity provided her by the political maneuvering of Senator Lillian de Haven (Anne Bancroft). To make the grade, Jordan has to survive a grueling selection process in which 60 percent of all candidates wash out. Enigmatic Master Chief John Urgayle (Viggo Mortensen) runs the brutal training program that involves 20-hour days of running, marching, and crawling through obstacle courses under the worst weather conditions while carrying landing rafts--not to mention eating out of a garbage can during breaks. Along with the best of the men, the lean, mean, shaven-headed Jordan handles the punishment, including a bizarrely motivated beating from her drill sergeant. The top brass, confident that a woman would quickly drop out, becomes concerned as Jordan's ability to handle SEAL training becomes evident. Soon she must contend with trumped-up charges that she's fraternizing with women, and the senator begins receiving threats that military bases in her state may have to be closed.

This movie was excellent. I would NOT recommend for younger kids, it gets pretty graphic (violence). But the plot, characters, and everything else from start to finish were great. I watched it all the way through, and didn't even do my work on the side like I usually do - I was THAT into the movie.

It was refreshing to see an action hero of the female persuasion so convincing. Owning this was a valued addition to my DVD collection. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I've always liked the movie and I really enjoyed purchasing and viewing this dvd. This movie inspires you with lots of strong characters and plenty of action. I feel that it was money well spent and I'm glad that it became available for purchase.

the cd i bought was brand new.there were no damage to the cd when i received it.i love it.i would buy from ebay again.i've always wanted this cd and could never find it at the stores.ebay had it,and i had to buy it...

This wan interesting film. Quite unique and different from others. Shows a woman overcoming what at one time was sexism and prejudice from males who thought themselves to be the dominant sex. Thankfully today though more and more are beginning to see that both sexes are equal!

Well, after all, what can one say about this obviously pro-feminist movie?
Some sequences were certainly plausible, but the steady diet of mis-information has a way of dulling one's palate.
Viggo Motenson seriously delivers as a legitimate specwar operator and instructor, and his odes to D H Lawrence are inspirational, but ultimately, I expected a LOT more from Ridley Scott.
Perhaps his vision died on the cutting-room floor.
Having said all this, I still find it a worthwhile addition to the afficianado's collection. ((-;

G.I. Jane is an awesome movie full of action.It's cool to see a "Woman" doing a "mans" job.This movie is great for men and women to watch. I wouldn't recommend it for all ages of children but my 10 and 13 yr old's love this movie.

I liked the movie because it shows that women have the will power to make it through tough things too. You can't get much tougher than the Marines Boot Camp, and in a man's world. This movie is about having the guts and glory of sticking with something. As the saying goes, "The Few, The Proud, The MARINES!"

This is one of my favorite movies and my copy was lost. I was excited to find it at such a great price to re-add it to my collection.

I liked this movie, Demi is a good actress. I am not really for woman in the army and such, but some women are tough and this movie certainly points that out.

it arrived after the other dvd which i ordered but it came in tact and how the description said. the only problem was that it only places on region 1 but the description did say that but maybe think of selling other regions if possible.

This movie is one of Demi Moore's Best. She was the one that started women off in Action Adventure Movies. In this movies she is every bit as tough as the guys, but she still keeps her girly side. This Movie has action, but also has an emotional side. This is a chick flick that even my Husband does not mind watching.

When I received this product it was in like new condition. The DVD was not scratched, the case was not broken, and everything that you would expect from a new DVD was achieved by the purchase from this seller. I highly recommend.

Excellant movie. Demi Moore really got into chartacter with this one. You could feel her determination in this movie. I had this on VHS and converted over to DVD recently. I had to get this one for my collection.
