The chart-toppin' King, baby!

Unknown Hinson may be the funniest man in music. ANY music, and that's saying something. Looking like the angry offspring of Conway Twitty and Bela Lugosi, Unknown crafts songs that celebrate the darker aspects of country music while, at the same time, showing a profound reverence for the themes that abounded in the genres golden age. Tales of "party liquor"-fueled violence, unruly "womern", white trash pride, and domestic discord abound, all mixed with the old-school intermingling of greasy sins and the ultimate redemption that comes from simply believing he's redeemed. Although the tales are funny, they're also believable, and put forth in a way that could only come from a southerner. Unknown blurs the line between comedy and homage, and the listener never doubts his familiarity with his subject matter. His prowess as a guitar picker is also criminally understated. He can pull out a sizzling, lightning-fast flurry of notes that is pure aggression, and follow it with a jazzy, fluid solo that would be right at home in a Patsy Cline ballad. A phenomonal guitarist in any style. So yes, it's funny. But no, it's not a joke. Even for those who aren't fans of country music (like me), Unknown Hinson is one of the most entertaining performers working in classic-country-metal-fusion in the galaxy. You won't be disappointed.
