Television networks seem to continuously underestimate their fans. "Family Guy"? Resurrected. "Firefly"? Back from the dead. "Futurama"?
Well, it took two years, but the Planet Express crew returns with the first of four direct-to-DVD movies, "Bender's Big Score." And boy does Matt Groening and David X. Cohen know how to deliver.
"Bender's Big Score" picks up almost exactly where the series left off. Fry is still pining for Leela; Professor Farnsworth is still forgetful as ever; and Bender is still pilfering everything in sight. Only this time, the robot with a shiny metal derriere has come under the control of nudist aliens who are threatening a hostile takeover of Earth. Fans can expect all their favorites back in action from Zap Brannigan and Kif Kroaker to Richard Nixon and Al Gore in a hilarious cameo.
Die hards and newcomers alike will not be disappointed.
