Album Notes Personnel: Sam Rivers (tenor saxophone); Jaki Byard (piano); Ron Carter (bass); Tony Williams (drums). Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on December 11, 1964. Originally released as BST (84184). Includes liner notes by Nat Hentoff. With the almost telepathic support of his longtime associates, the pianist Jaki Byard, the drummer Tony Williams, and the bassist Ron Carter, the composer and saxophonist Sam Rivers guides his instrument through a succession of inventive improvisations on this mid-1960s album, recorded around the same time he joined Miles Davis's band.
