Jeff Smith's "Cooks American"

I have been a Fan of Jeff Smith since I watched him on PBS when I was a kid, trying his reciepts whenever I could. I had this book 30 years ago, but it got lost in a move. I just receintly remembered his excellent dishes that he made for me ( us, LOL) every Saterday and Sunday morning, and had to re-buy the book. There are some pretty strange - sounding receipts in this book, but, believe me when I say everything seems to work !! Now that I am older and allowed to use my own kitchen, I am going to try every single one !!! I will file a report later !! LOL. So, I give it 5 stars and look forward to getting back into cooking !!! Good Luck !!!! Dean

I love this book. Jeff Smith does much more than give recipes to his readers, he also includes historical and other interesting information regarding the "dish". This has been my favorite cookbook for many years. I have bought copies to give to friends. My favorite recipes are included in these pages, especially the pumpkin souffle and the stuffed chicken. If you have never seen Jeff on TV or read any of his books, one taste of these pages will get you hooked. I recently bought his Christmas book to give to a friend but enjoyed it so much I could not bare to part with it and so it is part of my own treasured collection.
