This is the way all biographies should read!

Frida is an excellent tale of artist Frida Kahlo. It's a rather intimidating book, as it has quite a few pages and chronicles Kahlo's life from start to finish. However, Herrera needed every one of those pages to tell the tale of this fascinating woman whose life was anything but dull. Herrera delves into Kahlo's past, which includes a near-death experience as a teen, a tumultuous marriage to muralist Diego Rivera, an affair with Leon Trotsky, a life of pain and agony, a discovery of an aptitude for art...and the list goes on. Herrera's writing is polished and interesting, and she tells the tale of Kahlo is a way so fascinating that the book reads like a novel. I would say that this is arguably one of the best biographies ever written about one of the most important women of the last century.
