Wonderful!

I adore this book. Granted, some of the fashion may seem "dated"; the book was written in the 80's, after all. But taking cues from other eras is hot today, and there is much that is inspiring herein. I especially love the lists of accessory tips and how to "rethink" a simple beige pullover and trousers to achive five different looks. And the photo of television producer Michelle's witty and unique look is still on my wall. I cannot imagine many women today having the daring to wear a towel as a shawl as she did; Michelle chose it for its exquisite Jean Cocteau print, which is much too lovely to keep indoors or on the beach. And that is the essence of French style, confidence. She was not afraid to use clothing to express herself. If you have that confidence, you can carry any look; it's only if you project unease that people notice you as strange or weird, and you can project that even in jeans and a t shirt. This book is not for everyone, only those who were there ;-) or for those who love fashion history and have a strongly whimsical sense of personal style ...or long to develop one!
