Ace: An American Icon.
I have a son who was born on Ace's birthday, and another has the middle name, Frehley. My admiration for this man is great. His first solo effort was stellar, but I believe the demand for a certain type of "glam"-sounding music had too much influence on this record. Ace's 1978 solo record was untainted. Breaking away from the monster, known as KISS, had it's pro's and cons. Songs like "Rock Soldiers" were heartfelt, and only Ace has a way of turning something dark into a great Rock song, up beat and catchy. When secondary front man, Todd Howarth, sang lead, it sounded like every other "Big Hair" band in the top 100, at that time. I do like "Breakout" because of it's ties to the Late, Great, Eric Carr. It's actually another bright spot on this disc. There are only a couple of songs on the record that are just "average". This is a classic record, worthy of ANY music collection. Ace is, and always will be, a true musical LEGEND.
