Freeform Knitting and Crochet by Jenny Dowde (2004, Paperback)

I was inspired to learn freeform crochet after I purchased this book. It is so much fun to create as you go. Working with textile color and texture in a crazy quilt sort of way but with crochet instead of sewing. I'm not an accomplished knitter but am comfortable with crochet and find this "crazy crochet" and the ideas suggested in this book to be very enjoyable.

Excellent book by Jenny Dowde on freeform knitting and crochet, aka scrumbling. This is the first of her two books on the subject and it contains more "patterns" than her second book, FREEformations, but has fewer instructions on individual freeform pieces. I prefer her second book but together they are a fabulous set of reference materials for those wanting to learn how to freeform knit and crochet. I met Jenny on Ravelry and was immediately drawn to her beautiful freeform work. She was very friendly and when I saw that she had these two books available, I ordered both of them. Highly recommended!

I love the combinations of colors and intricate designs. It makes the disigns look easy for the beginning and average knitter. I am very pleased with this book.
