Album Notes
The Waco Brothers: Jon Langford, Alan Doughty, Steve Goulding, Deano, Marc Durnate, Tracey Dear.
Recording information: House Of Durantula, Chicago, Ill.
Despite the Waco Brothers being a flagship band for the "insurgent country" label Bloodshot, the country part of their cowpunk approach has always been largely theoretical: the Chicago-based group comes off more like the Clash misrouted to a Midwestern roadhouse. FREEDOM AND WEEP finds them edging still further from twang towards straight-ahead rock & roll, with sharply sociopolitical lyrics as finely honed as ever, and the band striking just the right mix of reckless abandon and seasoned musicianship.

Editorial Reviews
3 stars out of 5 - [T]he 13 songs here tackle some of the group's favorite themes....Yet another winning concoction from Langford and company.
Mojo

[M]aybe it's better to read FREEDOM AND WEEP as more specifically concerned with the politics of the soul....The Wacos don't pretend to have all the answers, and that's part of their everyman appeal.
