Cheesy but Fun

I had played the first Freedom Force game, so I picked this up expecting a continuation of the silly comic book cliches and character origins, fun gameplay, and cool old-school style designs. This game didn't disappoint! The game is fun and challenging at times, as there are multiple objectives, hidden objects, and villains. The graphics are cool, seeming just like a comic book, with lots of dark alleys, busy streets, and old buildings. Best of all, most everything can be destroyed or used as a weapon, including cars, trees, lamp posts, garbage cans, and manhole covers. If you've played the first Freedom Force, which I recommend, you'll be a little ahead of the game but new players will be able to pick it up quickly. The best part is being able to stop time and change your orders to a character. You can have one character throw a box of dynamite at a bad guy, stop, and order the other characters away so they don't get caught in the blast. if you like comics, it'll remind you of WWII-style Captain America, but it also has RPG or Command and Conquer-style characteristics. You have opportunities to try new characters or build up the same characters and unlock some cool abilities. Overall, it's an enjoyable game with a funny typical comic book story to drive the action. There is also a rumble room where you can pit characters against each other. I didn't try the online play, but I imagine it would be fun too.
