Free-to-play MMO for kids (and adults, too!)Review created: 10/15/09

Free Realms is a free-to-play MMO aimed at kids and tweens but has found a niche with time-strapped adults and those who like their games casual. It is free to play with a cash shop and a $5 a month subscription tier, but 75%+ of the game (and the entire game world) is open to free players. The graphics are excellent and are much better than the other popular casual friendly MMO, Wizard101. There is plently of quests, instanced combat and trade skills to complete. Crafting takes on a whole new level when you race to finish a round of match-3 instead of just hitting a button. Cooking is very similar to the Cooking Mama mini-games and other non-combat classes have similar min-games to complete. Overall, I'd say that if you haven't the time to play WoW any longer, take a good look at Free Realms--it will surprise you.

FreeRealms(dot)com is a newer online MMORPG that launched in April 2009. As of this review, the game boasts over 3 million unique users in a short period of time, making this a rapidly growing online game and user community. It features players worldwide and in ALL age groups. This game is perfect for families to play together (my kids and I all play!) or for those who are looking for something a little bit different from the typical role playing game.
FreeRealms is a 3D virtual world (with GREAT graphics!) where you can do whatever you want, whenever you want! You can battle enemies, duel other players, play the online card trading game, go on quests, find treasures, complete collections, teach your pets, cook, race, mine, etc... the possibilities are near endless!
Basic accounts are FREE and believe me, you can do MANY things using a FREE account. Or, you can choose to become a member for only $4.99 per month. That's LESS than the cost of ONE McDonald's Extra Value Meal!
Membership gets you: 5 members only job/career paths, leaderboard rankings, the option to play up to three seperate characters, and over 400 unique quests and items.
The Free Account jobs include: Ninja, Chef, Kart Driver, Postman, Demolition Derby Driver, Brawler, Adventurer, Pet Trainer, Card Duelist, & Miner.
Membership jobs include: Warrior, Blacksmith, Medic, Wizard, & Archer.
Each job has a current maximum level of 20. You have to complete quests and do job specific training to level up. In this game you can choose to do any and all the jobs you want. Many players level up on ALL the jobs!
There are many quest categories such as: combat, exploration, mini-games, collections, brain teasers, and scavenger hunts.
With so much to do and all the fun that is in store, I give this game an EXCELLENT RATING for overall quality, graphics, game play, options, and returning game play quality. The support staff is excellent and many more game features and options will be added in the near future like player housing and new jobs and quests. So check out the game today and sign up to play!
