While not up to the songwriting quality of Bloodletting, this is probably Ms. Napolitano's best vocal work of her career. Walking in London simply amazes me with her power and range (and I can't believe I've seen her smoking after hearing this) and "Ghost of a Texas Ladies Man" is very tongue in cheek and fun. The band seems to be trying a little harder on this one, keeping up with the new guitarist I'm thinking. Her cover of James Brown's It's a Man's World, is excellent as well, she makes it sound like it was written for her.

  Great Second Release

Concrete Blonde's second album has some strong tracks and is an overall great album. Although they didn't have commercial success until the release of the next album, this album managed to have three singles "God Is A Bullet" "Happy Birthday" & Scene of a Perfect Crime" best tracks on the album have to be "Carry Me Away" & "Run Run Run" Johnette's power voice stands out. If your a fan, you must have it. If you are not familiar with their work, its time you listen...you won't regret it. The title track "Free" was not put on the album...not sure why. great songs! a little harder than Bloodletting.

  Concrete Blonde/ Free
Review created: 07/13/06

Concrete Blondes second album, a gritty, sometimes haunting experience. The title song Free, was left out at the end of production. A must have for Blonde fans.
