Industry Reviews This latest offering in the "Schiffer Books for Collectors" series focuses on the productive life and art of Frederick Carder (1863-1963) and the glories of Steuben Glass. Carder, born and trained in England, came to America to join in partnership with T.G. Hawks. They opened Steuben Glass in Corning, NY, in 1903, naming their business for the county. In 1918, when war shortages hurt supplies, the Steuben works was bought by Corning Glass, and Carder stayed on in the Steuben Department. Dimitroff, an honorary curator of Carder Steuben glass at Corning's Rockwell Museum, presents Carder's art nouveau, art deco, cut and engraved, and architectural works in 760 photographs and line drawings showcasing 800 pieces from the museum. For collectors, there is much information on identification, marks, signatures, rarity, dating, and current prices. Recommended for larger libraries, art collections, and regional studies. Joseph C. Hewgley, Nashville P.L. Fox
