Freakonomics

I imagine, if you're like me, you don't think of economics as interesting. Usually, it's summed up in one word - BORING! But what if you could find out the reason why gang members still live with their mothers? Or why the Klan are like real estate agents? Or the REAL reason behind the drop in crime? (and no, it's not getting tough on crime or adding more cops!) Steven Levitt makes economics interesting in his book "Freakonomics," where he explains these questions and other oddities in language all can understand. I took an economics course in college, and couldn't understand one word, despite the excellence of the teacher. Levitt goes beyond excellence in getting his concepts across; I can understand all of what he said. As a teacher, I can really appreciate how difficult that is! It is hard to explain a subject you know a lot about to those who know nothing about it. He accomplishes this and is entertaining as well! If you want to read an entertaining book about economics, this is the one! And, you'll learn something to boot!!
