THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL

If Frances Langford wasn't the most gorgeous women on this planet then I'll eat my fedora. Not only was she beautiful, she had a voice that can only be described as golden. At the same time being soft and ethereal and also dark, dusky and sensual. WOW, what a package! And if that wasn't enough, she was a warm, kind, and friendly person...on screen and off.
Here we have a Frances Langford double feature. Career Girl is for me, the better of the two. It features Frances as Joan Terry a girl from a small town trying to make it on Broadway. Not a lavish production but who cares when you've got Frances Langford singing and smiling at you! Ah, that Langford smile! It melts the heart of the crustiest curmudgeon. Some wonderful original songs, one co-written by Morey Amsterdam, stalwart of the Dick Van Dyke TV show. Career Girl also features a strong supporting cast headed by the wonderful Iris Adrian. Edward Norris as a rather reluctant suitor, Craig Woods as the frustrated boyfriend from back home and Ariel Heath as the stage-struck Sue. This is a good example of a real ensemble working together beautifully. Dixie Jamboree is a good movie, but not as good as Career Girl. The big plus is Frances Langford looking great and singing great.
If you see this double feature for sale...anywhere...grab it. Once you experience Frances Langford, she will remain in your heart forever.
