Framework Design Guidelines by Brad Abrams (2005, Package)

This is a great resource for learning about the guidelines and best practices in development. It is geared towards API's and FrameWorks but the same principles can be applied to any development project to ensure quality. Lots of the examples and experience in the book come from the design of the .NET framework itself so there are plenty of real-world scenarios and hard evidence and data to support all of the points. The book is also written as a list of topics with a brief description of each guideline plus the opinions of 3 different people, which makes it a nice to read and easy to understand. Definitely worth the price.
