While drawing deeply upon his Navajo-Ute heritage, Nakai simultaneously embraces other forms, frequently performing alongside Western classical, jazz, and world musicians.
Recorded nearly 20 years after his debut album, FOURTH WORLD finds Nakai competently backed by the Canyon Symphony, whose size belies the gentle cushion of sound it produces. Particularly on "Whippoorwill," flute and orchestra integrate beautifully, in this instance perfectly evoking the movement of a bird.
