Synopsis In this pun-tastic romp by the author of THE EYRE AFFAIR, detective Jack Spratt of the Reading Police Department is on the case once again. The Gingerbreadman, a brilliant psychopathic killer, is on the rampage, but Jack has been demoted to missing persons detail after a few unfortunate incidents from last time, so he's not assigned to go after the armed and dangerous cookie. An almost-as-interesting job comes his way, however, when reporter Henrietta 'Goldilocks' Hatchett goes missing. Spratt's search will take him to the edge of the forest where The Three Bears reside--or is it Four? Conspiracies, rogue literary figures, and fun collide once again in the second Nursery Crimes mystery.
Jack Spratt and Mary Mary return in their second Nursery Crime adventure.--From publisher description.

Industry Reviews "[T]his sequel offers literary allusions, confusions and gentle satire...An alien policeman named Ashley, talking bears, a devoted group of cucumber-growing enthusiasts and an immensely powerful company, Quang Tech, add spice. All are grist for Fforde, whose word play runs the gamut from puns to shaggy dog stories." (06/26/2006)
