The Fountainhead

On the surface Ayn Rand writes a moving love story. Deeper embedded is the hard fought battle between virtuous individualism and the cancer of collectivism. Ayn Rand has written a timeless lesson that should be required reading in every high school and college. In a society that glorifies mediocrity, one man stays the course and is true to his belief in himself. Howard Roark is shunned, mocked, and led down a path of destruction by Elsworth Toohey and the lynch mob minded group thinkers, who either by actively participating, or by uninvolved apathy do not stand up for self righteousness. This well written book is a must read and has quickly become my favorite book of all time. Although it spans almost 700 pages of small print, it envelopes you and flows quickly.
